— Air Brakes Test on a Tractor Trailer

This video will walk you through a tractor trailer’s air brakes test. In less than ten minutes, the instructor will take you through all of the steps necessary to pass the air brake test on the vehicle inspection section of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) test.

You will see demonstrations of a leak rate test, a low air warning alarm test, and an emergency brake system check. Listen carefully as the instructor also provides valuable information regarding some state and test requirements. Did you know that the state of Florida requires a one minute leak rate test with the brake pedal depressed? Or that the CDL test requires drivers to explain what they are doing as they perform the check? Other helpful tips provided in this video are the CDL test also requires you to have your own timing device and that you must time one full minute before moving on to the next step.
