RV sales roar during the pandemic

RV Sales Soar During Pandemic

Now, in the second summer of the COVID-19 pandemic, RV sales continue to rise at an unprecedented pace with no end in sight. Many Americans, eager to travel after being stuck at home, have realized that RVs offer a safe and comfortable way for them to explore the country.

In fact, as more workers become remote and are no longer tied to an office, and some children attend school online, traveling around in an RV is no longer just for vacations – for some, it has become a way of life. RVs allow families to socially distance from others, not worry about the cleanliness of hotel rooms or public bathrooms, and still be able to enjoy visiting new places.

According to the RV Industry Association’s June 2021 survey of RV manufacturers, 50,706 RVs were shipped out during the month of June, an increase of 25.3% compared to June of 2020. In fact, the second quarter of this year (from April – June) set an all-time record high for RV shipments – the most ever recorded.

Dealers estimate anywhere between 50 – 80% of buyers are first-time purchasers of RVs. Pre-pandemic, that number was between 25 – 35%. That means the RV industry is attracting a brand new audience of buyers like never before.

In essence, more RVs will be on the road than ever, and all of those RVs will need to be maintained and repaired. There has never been a better time to consider becoming an RV mechanic/technician.

Additionally, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Florida is the third largest employer of RV service technicians in the country as of May 2020, and with an annual mean wage of $48,030.
