welding and fabrication technology in the submarine industry

New Program to Hire 100,000 Skilled Trade Workers

The future of welding and fabrication technology in the submarine industry is promising, with significant advancements and increasing demand for skilled professionals. As the submarine industry evolves, the need for highly trained welders and fabricators is more crucial than ever. J-Tech is educating the next wave of welding professionals, offering a comprehensive welding and fabrication technology training program.

As the Welding industries continue to grow, the demand for skilled professionals in these fields is on the rise. In partnership with the Department of Defense suppliers, the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) program team has recognized this need and launched its 2023—2024 Talent Pipeline Program. What does this mean for you? This means, a need to hire 100,000 new skilled trade workers into the submarine industrial base over the next 10 years! The program will help Submarine Industrial Base employers hire and retain employees with critical skills by connecting with career and technical training providers and job-seeking students.

Last summer, more than 700 new workforce members participated in 2022-2023 Talent Pipeline Project Signing Day events. ‘Signing Days’ recognize trade skills students who have completed training and are embarking on careers at small and medium-sized defense industrial base suppliers participating in the talent pipeline programs.

The submarine industry relies heavily on advanced welding and fabrication technologies to construct and maintain fleets. Welding and fabrication technology are at the heart of submarine construction and maintenance. Skilled welders and fabricators are essential for the following:

  • Structural Integrity: Ensuring the structural integrity of submarines requires precision welding and fabrication.
  • Innovative Designs: As submarine designs become more complex, the need for skilled professionals who can work with advanced materials and techniques grows.
  • Longevity and Maintenance: Submarines must withstand harsh underwater environments, necessitating robust fabrication and welding techniques.

J-Tech’s comprehensive training programs prepare students for these high-demand roles, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet industry standards.
