Financial Aid Options for Technical School

If you’re interested in enrolling in an accredited technical school like J-Tech but are worried about how you’re going to pay for it, have no fear. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. There are many options available to help cover tuition costs including federal aid, scholarships, grants, loans and assistance for military/veterans. Here’s an overview of the options you may want to explore.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)

Those who want to apply for financial aid at J-Tech must meet with a Financial Aid Officer on campus, fill out the FAFSA application, and complete any additional paperwork needed.

Scholarships

J-Tech offers a number of scholarship opportunities, including:

  • Driving Futures Forward Scholarship – $2,800 tuition scholarship available to high school seniors enrolled in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.

  • High School Scholarship  – $1,000 tuition scholarship available to one high school senior at each high school in Florida and Georgia.

  • Duval County High School Scholarship  – $1,000 tuition scholarship available to five high school seniors at each high school in Duval County.

  • Industry Matching Scholarship – A matching scholarship of up to $3,000 available to prospective students who receive an educational scholarship to attend J-Tech in the Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, HVAC-R, or Marine & RV Technology programs.

  • Florida Department of Education Scholarships – These include the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program and the Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans or Children of Servicemen Classified as Prisoners of War or Missing in Action Scholarship.

Military and veterans may qualify for a range of programs to help make their education affordable. These include:

  • GI Bill®
  • Post-9/11 GI Bill®
  • Montgomery GI Bill®
  • Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
  • Survivors and Dependents Assistance
  • Fry Scholarship
  • Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA)

Applying for Financial Aid

To remain eligible for financial aid, you must maintain satisfactory academic progress. If you are going to apply for financial aid, you should do so as early as possible in order to allow sufficient time for application processing.
